I endeavored to know this year

I embarked on a journey that would have me deeper in than I would ever be

We hear of mines we think of silver

But we never consider the process of excavation

There is a mine for silver and a place where gold is refined

There is a process

The rocks need to be broken

The earth dug up

The darkness beneath will have to be revealed

And all shall come to light

They say the diamonds are in the rough

We need to get tough enough to withstand the pressure

We need to be tough to dig in the rough

If the jewels lay in the dark then we need to dig

Take up your shovel and hoe

Get down on all fours

And dig

Dig deep

For the treasure lies not in the surface but deep within

Do not fear the darkness for you have the light

Do not consider your nails for the gold is worth

It is time to get out of your comfort

It is time to go deep

Get up and dig
